Tuesday Evening BAS Book Group

All are welcome to participate in the BAS Book Group, which meets to discuss books of Jewish interest. The books range from historical fiction and novels to memoir and nonfiction about contemporary and past Jewish experience and issues. Discussions are lively and informative. Come join us!

This month we will discuss Satan in Gorey by Isaac Bashevis Singer, historical fiction based on 17th century pogroms in Eastern Europe and the rise and fall of Sabbatai Zvi.

Selected Jewish Shorts

“Selected Jewish Shorts" features short stories by Jewish writers read aloud in English. Ranging from drama to comedy to fantasy, the stories are drawn from a rich heritage, including Yiddish, American Jewish, and Israeli writers old and new.

On November 21 we present: The Many Lives of THE GOLEM

Cinematech Bi'Bet Am

Join us as for the screening of a contemporary Israeli film, "Time of Favor" (in Hebrew, Ha-Hesder), with English subtitles. The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion over coffee and cake in the tradition of the Israeli Cinematech.

"Ha Hesder" is the winner of six Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and highly acclaimed in its US theatrical release.

Rachmoniss & Rhythm - Group Drumming to a Jewish Beat

Torah Readers' College

Learn how to read Torah from the BAS experts. This is the first session of a two part series with the second session on January 25. Come to one or both sessions.

Gabbai College

Increase your active participation in the Shabbat and Holiday morning services. Learn the chanting and choreography of the Torah service so that you too can be a calling and pointing Gabbai. Program will include distribution of a CD of the Torah Service chants. This is the first session of a two part series (second session is on February 1). Come to one or both sessions.
