Yiddish Conversation Circle

Enjoy our Yiddish heritage deepen and broaden our familiarity this language. We talk together, learn and farbreng tsuzamen. The group is bilingual. There are lesson plans and singing in Yiddush.

 

Book Group - Bodies & Souls: The Tragic Plight of Jewish Women Forced into Prostitution in the Americas - Isabel Vincent

All are welcome to participate in the BAS Book Group, which meets to discuss books of Jewish interest. The books range from historical fiction and novels to memoir and nonfiction about contemporary and past Jewish experience and issues. Discussions are lively and informative.

Rabbi's Talmud Study Group

Come and enjoy the company of our morning study group each week in our beautiful synagogue library as we make our way through the Steinsaltz translation and commentary on the Talmud. Good food for thought, and good company. Drop in anytime or become one of our stalwart regulars. No prerequisites other than patience and a love of Jewish learning.

Advanced Conversational Hebrew

If you are an advanced Hebrew speaker - this is the course for you! Practice speaking Modern Hebrew while enjoying contemporary Israeli hits, humor, recipes, newspaper articles and more. The teacher is a native Israeli, experienced tour guide, and creative teacher who has traveled the world and loves to inspire her students with remarkable experiences. Rabbi's Parashah Study Group

Each Wednesday evening, Rabbi Bronstein leads a tour of the "Par'shat Hashavua," the Torah portion of the week. The class will look at plot, themes, language, poetry, theology, history, and, of course, commentary. The class is intended to be stimulating for the adept AND a worthwhile learning experience for novices, including non-Hebrew readers.

Adult Bible Study

This year we will read the Book of Chronicles and reference the Books of Samuel. We will be using modern Biblical commentaries.  All are welcome -- our texts are all in English translation. Teacher: Roz Schulman. Class meets only when Hebrew School is in session.

Beginning Hebrew Literacy

Learn to read Hebrew in six weeks and be able to say the blessings over the chanukah candles.
