This is the second annual BAS Auschwitz Liberation Day program.
AMERICA AND THE HOLOCAUST: An exploration of the US and Allied WWII policies in response to the unfolding Holocaust of European Jewry. The speaker will be Dr. Deborah Lipstadt*, the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Emory University.
This program is open to the entire community.
*Dr. Lipstadt is a prolific author and respected
contributor to major academic journals devoted to Holocaust research. She authored Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault On Truth And Memory (Free Press/Macmillan, 1993), the first comprehensive history of the Holocaust denial movement. Her History on Trial: My Day in Court with David Irving (Ecco/HarperCollins, 2005) chronicles Dr. Lipstadt's legal battle with the Holocaust denier which resulted in a resounding victory for Lipstadt and a defeat for the prejudice, extremism, and distortion of history that defined Irving's work.
