Midnight Run April 3

BAS MIDNIGHT RUN
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

WHAT is Midnight Run? Westchester volunteers bringing clothing, food, and a little companionship to homeless people living on the streets of Manhattan. BAS is one of many houses of worship and civic groups that sign up for routes and dates. We participate once every quarter, on a Saturday night.

WHEN: The next Run is Saturday night, April 3, 2010

Food preparations for this Run will take place at Bob Miller and Rochelle Leiber-Miller’s home, 96 Sterling Avenue (off Soundview), White Plains, 10606, starting at 7:30 PM. Clothes sorting will take place at BAS.
Donations should be dropped off at 7:15 p.m . Food must be brought to Sterling Ave: clothes to BAS.

DONATIONS

• Warm, CLEAN clothing for MEN ONLY (please, GOOD condition only!)
• Winter jackets
• Sweatshirts - Hoodies - Sweaters – Long sleeve shirts - Thermals
• Jeans
• Gloves, and Hats
• NEW WHITE SOCKS
• NEW UNDERWEAR – (sizes 34, 36 and 38 most urgently needed)
• Gently used shoes, sneakers, boots
• Personal care items – hotel size or samples – toothpaste, soap, etc.
• Blankets
• Backpacks or tote bags
• FOR WOMEN: NEW undergarments, gently used warm clothing and shoes

FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED – You can donate some or all of any item. Please just let us know what you plan to bring.

• Turkey - 12 lbs (kosher)
• Salami – 6 lbs (kosher)
• Hard boiled eggs-2 dozen
• White bread–14 large loaves
• Lettuce-5 heads
• Mayo – 2 large jars
• Small chocolate bars (150)
• Bananas, oranges or apples (25 of each)
• Milk – 1 gallon
• Coffee – 1 can
• Bottles of water –3 cases (12 oz. size)
• 5 lb sugar
• Mustard – 1 jar

HELP NEEDED

• Sort clothes and make sandwiches – On the night of the Run, come to Rochelle and Bob’s house, 96 Sterling Avenue, White Plains, to help prepare food from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Go to BAS to help sort clothes. This is a great family activity. (But please, no children under the age of 12 for this Midnight Run prep)
• Come on the Run (but you must contact Bob Miller at bob [dot] miller [at] westhab [dot] org first!) – If you have never gone on a Run, it is an unforgettable and meaningful experience.
